Dale City Real Estate Information

Part of Prince William County and hosting a population of over 63,000 people, Dale City is an unincorporated community in northern Virginia. Appropriately named after the neighborhoods within the community, Dale City is composed entirely of places ending in “dale,” such as Glendale, Hillendale, Mapledale, Oakdale, Princedale, Silverdale, and Trentdale. A large number of Dale City’s residents work at the Quantico Marine Corps Base just south of the area. In fact, the U.S. Marines is the area’s largest employer. The I-95 just east of Dale City whisks residents into Washington, DC in about an hour or less.

Potomac Mills Mall, the second largest shopping mall in Northern Virginia, is located in Dale City. Interestingly, it is also the largest outlet mall in the United States because of its extensive selection of big-box retailers, expensive fashion designers, and discounted boutiques. Prince William Square and Smoketown Stations are two of the smaller shopping centers that serve Dale City. A number of community events are popular during the year, namely the Harvest Bazaar Craft and Gift Show, Dale City Gun Show, and Fourth of July Parade.

The Waterworks Waterpark is located at Andrew Leitch Park and features an enclosed speed slide, jungle walks, beach volleyball, shade pavilions, and a number of great eateries. Howlson Homestead Park, Dale City Park, Greenwood Farm Park, and Hillendale Park are among the larger municipal parks in the area. Each one has a number of grassy fields, shady trees, and facilities for a number of sports, like baseball, softball, soccer, and football. The sprawling Prince William Forest Park has a number of bike trails, nature hike, and campgrounds that are heavily used, especially on the weekends. Lake Montclair, located between Dale City and the Forest Park is occasionally a summer hotspot where residents will relax and tan. The Chesapeake Bay, a short drive away, is also quite popular and affords locals with spectacular panoramas, fresh ocean air, and a convenient break from everyday life.

Besides the Northern Virginia Community College, Dale City also features over two dozens elementary, middle, and high schools to educate the area’s youth. The local public schools are quite good and often turnout a number of nationally recognized scholars.
