An unincorporated area in Loudoun County in northern Virginia, Dulles is most known for the Washington Dulles International Airport that lies partially in the Dulles area. As one of the largest U.S. gateways on the east cost, the airport is used by over three dozen airlines that service over 80 domestic destinations and to over 40 international destinations non-stop from Dulles. As a part of the Metropolitan Washington area, Dulles sees a large number of people pass through on their way to and from the airport. The name is derived from the late former United States Secretary of State John Foster Dulles who was an influential diplomat during the Eisenhower era. The Dulles South Bus makes more convenient public transport to downtown Washington, DC, where a number of Dulles’ residents work.

The Loudoun County Public Schools operate a few campuses in Dulles itself that makes exceptional educations just a few minutes from home for most local families.
