Lansdowne Real Estate Information

An unincorporated planned community in northern Virginia, Lansdowne hosts a population of under 1,000 residents. While the town’s small population may lead people to think it is in the middle of nowhere, Lansdowne is actually a quiet bedroom community just twenty-five miles west of Washington, DC, and considered part of the greater Washington metropolitan area. A number of residents make the daily commute to the nation’s capital. These people often find that retreating to the small town is relaxing because of its laid back atmosphere compared to the urban lifestyle in the city. However, this doesn’t mean Lansdowne is left in the dust. In fact, the town is on the cutting edge of technology and was one of the first communities in the nation to utilize an affordable fiber optic internet service.

The community is well-served by the Loudoun County Public Schools. Despite Lansdowne’s very small size, local students are treated to convenient campuses located in the heart of Lansdowne itself. Both Seldens Landing Elementary School and Belmont Ridge Middle School are just minutes away for most residents. Students in grades 9-12 have to travel to nearby Ashburn for their education at Stone Bridge High School. The school system boasts a variety of awards and commendations every year.

Lansdowne hosts a number of non-profit organizations, like the Inova Loudoun Hospital, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, and Prison Fellowship. A number of businesses are based out of Lansdowne Town Center, a mall that has both office and retail space. A few national-brand merchants also have stores at the center. Leisure World of Virginia, an upscale luxury retirement community is also in Lansdowne, although it maintains a very low profile so that it fits within the image of the area.

Two bodies of water, Goose Creek and the Potomac River, are the focal points of community live during the warmer spring and summer months in Lansdowne. Several parks and kayak launching facilities line the shores of both the creek and the river. The Potomac Club features a number of work out rooms, exercise facilities, swimming pools, meeting rooms, and game rooms for use by the residents. A number of popular restaurants, like On the Potomac at Lansdowne Resort, Riverside Hearth at Lansdowne Resort, and The Dock at Lansdowne are built along the water’s edge as well.
